The Taming of the Shrew
(by Shakespeare. Abridged and directed by Ervin
Beck, Professor of English, Goshen College. This
was a play they studied in her Shakespeare course
with Prof. Beck. When it was discovered that there
were too many women and not enough men in the class
to fill all the roles, the decision was made to
do a cross-gender version of the play with the text
intact, with only the gender-specific pronouns switched.
This made for a very interesting perspective on
traditional gender roles.) |
